Black Friday
During my break from school I worked 41 hours. I was able to work many overnites so i was not around many crazy and rude shoppers. I have come to realize that shoppers have a major attuide change when November 1st comes around. Before then they are as nice as can be but when that date hits people turn on the rude switch. One of my fellow associates and I wanted to open on black friday due to the drama that happened at our store last year. So we volunteered for the over nites. I was disappointed to find that there were no fights and that people were actually ok with the store. I was happy to hear that we had many complements on how our store was set up. One lady told me that she was happy that there was no fights because of what happened at another store that she was at earlier in the morning granted it was only 6 o'clock in the morning.

Art Class
I have taken up a new adventure this semester. I am taking an art class which i have not taken art since 6th grade mind you! I have been trying my best in class and getting about an 8.5 on every assignment. During the last project that we had to do I had to draw a still life object and then after drawing that I had to paint it. Not only paint it but, I had to add shadows and also figure out how to have the right shadow on the objects in my painting. I had to figure out how to shadow the object, which was hard. When I went to turn in my picture I had ended up turing in my picture. My professor made a comment on my painting that you have to stand back to look at my picture. I dont know how this would make you feel but, it made me feel kinda strange. After turing in my picture my teacher continued looking at my painting and he was showing it to other people. It made me nurvous because I can not draw and everyone else in class had very good drawings and straight lines. I was a little selfconcious with my picture, I hope I get a good grade.

The amount of people that did not fully understand what they were voting on was suprising to me. Many people that I work with were making comments that if anyone says no to Propostion A then there is something wrong with them. I told one girl that I voted no on the matter and she was appoled that I would do something like that because she has young children and the casinos need to pay more taxes. I told her how it was trying to change the amout of money that one person could loose in one hour and she just looked at me like I was stupid because I voted no. I also told her that the last time they change anything to do with the loto or casion taxes and school that they cut funds from the schools budgets so that they would have more money for other things and the girl was still upset. She felt that the schools still would not have enough funding even though with the new propstion one could loose his life savings in a two hour span and that was ok with her.
I was also encountered by a gentalmen telling me that I was a commy because I voted for Obama, I told the man that I felt Palin was the dumbest canidate and that I would not feel comfortable with someone that airheaded running my country and he still felt that I was a communist because I voted for Obama.
People and their politics cracks me up!!!

Election Day 2008
Long Lines Have People Waiting

These are the people waiting in line at the Polling Place.
Another Picture of people waiting at the Polling Place

Election precientcs had people waiting very early in the morning. When I arrived to make my vote at 5:45 am the line was out the door and rapping around the building.
I went home to Carthage to make cast my vote before heading to work. People were very cheery eyed and ready to make an impact in the world. It was a very good morning for standing outside and waiting.
After waiting in line for just under fifteen minuites we finally got inside. The line was moving very fast and people were very egar to vote. So egar they were not waitng for a voting booth. They were voting on the stage at the end of the table, where ever they could get a spot that is where they sat down.
This was my first time to vote in a presidental election and I was amazed at the amout of people that were standing waiting to get inside. I was also amazed at the amount of people that voted where ever they could not waiting for a booth or a private spot to cast their ballots shocked me.

Vice Presidental Debate
After watching the debate last night I realized why I was going to vote for the person that I am going too. I think that Gov. Palian did not do as good of job as some people were hoping for. I think that the way that she answered the questions by not answering them was they way that all politicians do but, I think that she could of done a much better job. She did not get out all that she wanted so what do you do, answer your question when you get asked another question. I do think that the comminator could have done a better job at bringing things back down to normal but, she didnt. Sarah Palian could of also answered her questions is the time alloted for her to speak. They have lights that flash for a reason and that is not just to give you something for you to look at. She did not need to bring her own questions and answer only them. She could have done a much better job. Senator biden did a good job in the debate. I think that he answered questions and corrected the gov. when it was necessary. I feel that Biden did a better job in this debate than Palian did.

Freedom Trail Trip
I am currently taking Introduction to African American Studies, in this class I am learning a lot about the history of blacks along with black culture. I was egar and excited to find out that the class offers a trip to students of the university. The trip is open to all students but, it is perfered that it is just to AAS students. During this trip we are going to Georgia as well as Alabama. We are going to visit a all black college as well as travel to the famous Martin Luther King Jr. Museaum, we will also be going to the Rosa Parks Museaum. To top off the trip we will be going to a Southern Baptist Church where after we will be served soul food. I am very excited about this trip but, the only problem is that there are not very many people that have signed up. There are still 15-20 more seats on the bus that need to be filled for us to go on this trip. I think that this can be an amazing opportunity but, we may have our once in a life time trip cancled due to lack of intrest. I just wanted to get this out there and I hope that maybe just one more person may read this and find some sort of intrest in this trip!!
Claire McCaskill
Today I have chosen to ask Claire McCaskill a few questions about the Farm Bill and US Agriculture.
Her stance on the farm bill is that she is happy with many of the provisions of the farm bill. She is pleased with the way that we use our tax payers money towards commidities. She was also happy with the $1 tax credit that you would recieve for cellulosic ethanol use.
Some of my open ended questions that i would ask are:
How did you go about getting members to drop the earmark that was added to the Farm Bill at the last minuite.
How would you go about keeping this from happening again? Would you try to start a new bill?
How do you see the Farm Bill helping our citizens.
How are you hoping to inforce the quality healthy food for all school aged children.
What are some ways that you have been helping to get the people of Southwest Missouri disaster relief when it is needed.
Some of my close ended questions that I would ask are:
Were you upset by not getting the earmark taken out of the farm bill.
Are you enjoying your new job as US senator
Do you vote often
Do you attended senate regularly
Are you planning on running for a second term?
